Christmas "Twisty" Tree Workshop
Add a bit of hand made to your Holiday Decorations!!
Service Description
Join Robin McGuirt ,as she leads you in making one, maybe 2 Christmas Trees from a slab of clay!! You will cut strips of clay from your slab, twist and join the clay together, add textures and fun baubles to make your very own Christmas Tree(s)!! No prior clay experience needed and all supplies, tools, clay, glazes and firing provided. This is a 2 part class, the first class will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 10am-12pm and will involve making the tree shape(s), adding textures and any embellishments you choose to make (ornaments, stars, lights, etc.) and then leaving it at the studio for bisque firing. You will return in a week, on Saturday, November 22nd the same time to glaze your tree(s). It will be fired once more and then ready for pick up 2 weeks later! For ages 14 and up. There are 2 options if you would like to make Twisty Trees with your child (age 8 and up), 1) Register each of you separately and you will each receive your own slab that makes 1-2 Twisty Trees or 2) Register just yourself and your child can make the 1-2 Twisty Trees with you. Please note the name and age of your child on your registration for studio set up purposes. Instructor: Robin McGuirt Robin is an accomplished potter who lives in Harmony, NC with her husband, 2 dogs, sheep, chickens and bees. She works from her home studio, making primarily wheel thrown pieces. Robin has been making pottery for over 20 years and her favorite pieces to make are wine glasses and custom wedding and communion sets. She has shown her work at the Bascom in Highlands, NC, the Smart Gallery in W Jefferson and at GG's here in Statesville. Robin teaches Handbuilding and Wheel Throwing Classes at Create in addition to fun workshops throughout the year!
