Service Description
Join Robin McGuirt on Saturday, February 7th, from 10am-12pm, as she leads you in sculpting a "Folk Art" Fox! In this workshop, you will begin with a slab of clay to form the basic shape of your fox and then learn to sculpt the body parts and features to make your own unique and "foxy" creation! You will then use Speedball Underglazes (made right here in Statesville) to apply colors to your finished piece! Your Fox will remain at the studio to dry, then be bisque fired. Robin will apply a clear glaze to make it shiny and we'll fire it again before it is ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after the workshop. All materials and firings are included in the class fee. This is a multi-generational class for makers 10 to 110! The class fee of $65 includes all clay, glazes and firings needed. Please wear comfy clothes you don't mind getting a little messy and feel free to bring something to drink during the workshop. Courtesy coffee and hot tea is available at the studio. Due to the small workshop size, no refunds will be available for cancellations one week prior to the workshop date. No previous clay experience is required, all levels are welcome! Instructor: Robin McGuirt Robin is an accomplished potter who lives in Harmony, NC with her husband, 2 dogs, sheep, chickens and bees. She works from her home studio, making primarily wheel thrown pieces. Robin has been making pottery for over 20 years and her favorite pieces to make are wine glasses and custom wedding and communion sets. She has shown her work at the Bascom in Highlands, NC, the Smart Gallery in W Jefferson and at GG's here in Statesville. Robin teaches Hand Building and Wheel Throwing Classes at Create in addition to fun workshops throughout the year!
