Service Description

Join Sassy Smyth on Friday, July 17th from 6-8 pm, to create your own hand built ceramic flowers inspired by your favorite blooms. From cheerful daffodils and elegant calla lilies to whimsical tulips and wildflowers, you’ll shape, sculpt and glaze a few flowers that will stay in bloom for years to come. No pottery experience needed- just bring your creativity and leave with a one-of-kind ceramic blossom. In this 2 hour workshop, you will be guided thru the basic steps of hand building your favorite flowers from clay. Once completed, you will learn to use underglazes to add color and flare. Flowers will remain in the studio to dry and then be bisque fired in our kiln. Sassy will apply a clear glaze and then fire them once more before they are ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after the class. This class is for ages 15 and up. Workshop fee of $75 covers all materials, glazes and firings. Please wear comfy clothes you don't mind getting a little messy and feel free to bring something to drink during the workshop. Due to the small workshop size, no refunds will be available for cancellations one week prior to the workshop date. Sassy Smyth is a local potter and has always been a lover of handmade pottery, but it wasn’t until the world began reopening after COVID that she finally signed up for her first class at Create Pottery Studio. She quickly fell in love with both the process and the craft of pottery, diving headfirst into learning on the wheel and through hand building. Before long, nearly all of her free time was spent experimenting, practicing, and deepening her understanding of clay. Teaching classes and workshops brings together two of her favorite things: helping others and making pottery. She loves creating an encouraging, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable trying new things, embracing mistakes, and learning even when things don’t go as planned — because that’s where so much of the magic happens in pottery. She is drawn to learning and sharing knowledge and truly enjoys getting to share her love of making and learning with the Create community.
