This 6-week class, taught by Robin McGuirt , will revolve around Adding to and Adapting Simple Hand Built Forms! Week 1- We’ll use a simple cone to create a choice of shapes for tall vases, change rims, bases, feet and handles of differing styles and make the pattern our own! Week 2- We’ll play with handles and appliqués on darted coffee cups. Week 3- We’ll use a cylinder to create a choice of whimsical animal sculptures. Week 4- We’ll celebrate the season with pinch pot pumpkins with natural looking stems and vines! Week Five: Finishing touches for pots. Week Six: Glazing the bisque fired works with intention. Students will return the following week for final thoughts and sharing time while we wrap and box the completed pottery to take home! All clay, glazes and firings are included in the class fee. Students are encouraged to wear comfy old clothes. This class meets on Thursday mornings from 10-12:30, beginning on September 3rd and ending on October 8th. Due to the small class size, no refunds will be available one week prior to the first class or once the class has started. In the event the studio needs to cancel a class, a make up session will be offered, however, make up classes are not available for student absences. Please take time to click on the "Studio Handbook and Studio Policies" link on the webpage. You will be asked to sign the "Studio Agreement and Waiver" form at your first class. Instructor: Robin McGuirt Robin is an accomplished potter who lives in Harmony, NC with her husband, 2 dogs, sheep, chickens and bees. She works from her home studio, making primarily wheel thrown pieces. Robin has been making pottery for over 20 years and her favorite pieces to make are wine glasses and custom wedding and communion sets. She has shown her work at the Bascom in Highlands, NC, the Smart Gallery in W Jefferson and at GG's here in Statesville. Robin has taught adult workshops in our area and we've been lucky to have her as an instructor here at CrEaTe for our adult Wheel and Hand Building classes as well as the Kids' Studio Class.
