Service Description

In this 6-week class, taught by Robin McGuirt , we’ll create whimsical (useable) teapots with matching cups. Skills you’ll learn will include making lids, decorative knobs, tea spouts and handles and developing volume with darting techniques! We’ll discuss use of positive and negative space as well as color to develop your original artwork. These projects will encompass our first three building sessions - leaving the fourth building session up to the student. We have patterns for you to choose from or bring your own ideas and we will provide guidance (we’ll discuss in class before this session). Two additional sessions will encompass finishing touches and adding color to pots with a variety of glaze options. The following week (12/17)we will meet to see our final art, discuss the process and results and pack up pots to take home. All clay, glazes and firings are included in the class fee. Students are encouraged to wear comfy old clothes. This class meets on Thursday mornings from 10-12:30, beginning on October 29th and ending on December 10th. NOTE: Class will not meet on 11/26. Due to the small class size, no refunds will be available one week prior to the first class or once the class has started. In the event the studio needs to cancel a class, a make up session will be offered, however, make up classes are not available for student absences. Please take time to click on the "Studio Handbook and Studio Policies" link on the webpage. You will be asked to sign the "Studio Agreement and Waiver" form at your first class.
