In plenty of time for the holidays! In this 2 hour workshop, Gin Scott will guide you in using cookie cutters and fun textures to make Santas, Angels, Christmas Trees, Menorahs, Snowmen, Stars, Dreidels, Gnomes and other Christmas and Hanukkah shapes all from a slab of clay! In our second hour you will add colors and decorations using our Speedball Underglazes that are made right here in Statesville!! Join us on Saturday, November 15th from 4-6pm for this fun and festive workshop!!! Sign up with your family and/or friends and make it a true event!!! Once you've made and glazed your ornaments, they will stay in the studio to dry a bit and then be bisque fired in our kilns, clear glazed by staff and fired one more time before ready for pick up on November 29th or later. Workshop fee includes clay, tools, both firings and all glazing. Each participant will make 10-12 or more ornaments from their slab of clay!! For ages 14 and up. There are 2 options if you would like to make ornaments with your child (age 8 and up), 1) Register each of you separately and you will each receive your own slab that makes 10-12 ornaments or 2) Register just yourself and your child can make the 10-12 ornaments with you. Please note the name and age of your child on your registration for studio set up purposes. Instructor: Gin Scott Gin is the owner of Create Pottery Studio and loves teaching clay classes! She and her husband Rhyne live in Statesville and after raising their 3 children, Ben, Abby and Luke and a rewarding career of over 30 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist she opened the studio in 2019. Gin wanted to share her joy for clay with others and to build a community of makers. She took her first pottery class many years ago at Mitchell Community College and Bruce Jordan was her instructor! Gin considers herself a hand builder, using slab construction to make most of her pieces and tiles. She has taught Kids' Studio, "Taste of Clay" and Hand Building classes and several clay workshops for kids and adults. Gin is very grateful to be able to share her favorite way of making art with others!!
