Bring your Mom, or bring your Kids and spend the morning together, Saturday, May 9th, making Bee and Butterfly Baths for your garden!! Our bee and butterfly friends depend on fresh water, especially during the warmest months, to thrive and even survive! What better project to make together than a handmade pottery dish that will add delight and whimsy to your garden, backyard, or favorite outdoor spot- while also helping some of our most beautiful and fragile creatures!! During this 2 hour class, we will roll out a slab of clay and form it into a flower-shaped shallow dish, but that is only the beginning! Using tools, stamps, rollers and anything else we can find in the studio, we will decorate our bee/butterfly baths, creating elevated spots around the dishes for the bees and butterflies to light on!! After making our bee/butterfly baths, we will add colors using Speedball Underglazes (made right here in Statesville)!! After the workshop, our Bee/Butterfly Baths will stay in the studio to dry a bit and then be bisque fired in our kilns, clear glazed by staff and fired one more time before ready for pick up approximately 3 weeks after class. Workshop fee includes clay, tools, both firings and all glazing. Each participant will make one or two Bee/Butterfly Baths from their slab of clay!! For ages 12 and up. There are 2 options if you would like to make Bee/Butterfly Baths with your child (age 6 -11), 1) Register each of you separately and you will each receive your own slab that makes 1-2 bee/butterfly baths or 2) Register just yourself and your child can make the 1-2 bee/butterfly baths with you. Please note the name and age of your child on your registration for studio set up purposes. Due to the small class size, no refunds will be given one week prior to the date of the workshop. Please wear comfy clothes you don't mind getting messy and feel free to bring something to drink to class. Complimentary coffee and hot tea are available at the studio. Instructor: Gin Scott
