Join Sassy Smyth on Friday, January 23rd and learn to throw pottery on the wheel!!! She will be offering the "Pop In" Pottery Class from from 6-8 pm!! It's a great opportunity to come get your hands muddy at Create Pottery Studio!! This one-time class is just right for folks who have never tried pottery, or those looking for a refresher! In this 2 hour workshop, you will be guided thru the basic steps of making a pot on the wheel and have fun practicing centering, opening and pulling a wall. The purpose of this class is to try your hand at pottery and you can choose a favorite piece or 2 to leave at the studio to be glazed and fired by staff. Completed pieces will be ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after class. This class is for ages 15 and up. Please wear comfy clothes you don't mind getting a little messy and feel free to bring something to drink during the workshop. Courtesy coffee and hot tea is available at the studio. Due to the small workshop size, no refunds will be available for cancellations one week prior to the workshop date. Sassy Smyth is a local potter and has always been a lover of handmade pottery, but it wasn’t until the world began reopening after COVID that she finally signed up for her first class at Create Pottery Studio. She quickly fell in love with both the process and the craft of pottery, diving headfirst into learning on the wheel and through hand building. Before long, nearly all of her free time was spent experimenting, practicing, and deepening her understanding of clay. Teaching classes and workshops brings together two of her favorite things: helping others and making pottery. She loves creating an encouraging, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable trying new things, embracing mistakes, and learning even when things don’t go as planned — because that’s where so much of the magic happens in pottery. She is drawn to learning and sharing knowledge and truly enjoys getting to share her love of making and learning with the Create community.
