Service Description

In this 6-week intermediate level class, Diana Eller will lead students beyond the basics to create more advanced forms. Topics covered can range from making lidded vessels and learning to use calipers, making matching sets of dishware, large pitchers with proper lid/spout alignment, etc. Students can bring special requests to the class. This class is open to students who have completed multiple classes at Create or other pottery studios and are able to perform the basic skills of centering, coning, opening, pulling walls, etc. easily using 2 and more pounds of clay and make basic forms, e.g., cylinders, bowls, consistently. Studio permission is required prior to registration. All glazes and firings are included in the class fee. Students will need to purchase a 25lb. bag of clay for $20 when needed and are encouraged to wear comfy old clothes and bring a bib apron or bath size towel to cover their clothes. This Intermediate Wheel Class meets Tuesday evenings, 6-8 pm. Due to the small class size, no refunds will be available one week prior to the first class or once the class has started. Instructor: Diana Eller Diana operates Grayrock Pottery in Hiddenite along with her husband, David. She is the wheel thrower and he is the hand builder. Diana began her love of pottery as a collector of work by potters throughout NC. Her interest grew and she wanted to make her own. Diana's first instructor was renown Catawba Valley potter, Kim Ellington. Diana also loves to paint in oils and watercolors and spent time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Diana joined Create Pottery Studio in May 2022. She has taught "Taste of Clay", Beginning Wheel Throwing, Beginning/Intermediate Wheel Throwing and Beginning Watercolor painting classes!!
