Service Description

Creating your very own mug is easier than you think! Join Sassy Smyth on Saturday, January 17th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, as she guides you in making a one of a kind pottery mug that you will drink from every day in the new year!! She will give you a pre-thrown mug form and you make it yours!! There are multiple ways to add your chosen "Word" or "Mantra" for 2026! You will be able to stamp your word, paint your word or carve your word onto the body of your mug-or- onto a small slab of clay that you attach to your mug!! Once that's done, your next steps will be to add a handle and personalize your mug with studio tools, stamps and other fun texture makers! You will select your glaze of choice before class ends and Sassy will take care of the rest! Sassy will fire your mug, glaze it and fire it again before it is ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after the class. All materials and firings are included in the class fee. This class is designed for makers 15 and up. Please wear comfy clothes you don't mind getting a little messy and feel free to bring something to drink during the workshop. Courtesy coffee and hot tea is available at the studio. Due to the small workshop size, no refunds will be available for cancellations one week prior to the workshop date. Sassy Smyth is a local potter and has always been a lover of handmade pottery, but it wasn’t until the world began reopening after COVID that she finally signed up for her first class at Create Pottery Studio. She quickly fell in love with both the process and the craft of pottery, diving headfirst into learning on the wheel and through hand building. Before long, nearly all of her free time was spent experimenting, practicing, and deepening her understanding of clay. Teaching classes and workshops brings together two of her favorite things: helping others and making pottery. She loves creating an encouraging, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable trying new things, embracing mistakes, and learning even when things don’t go as planned — because that’s where so much of the magic happens in pottery. She is drawn to learning and sharing knowledge and truly enjoys getting to share her love of making and learning with the Create community.
