Join Sassy Smyth on Sunday, July 12th for our first "You+Me=Pottery" session, as we make sweet little flower vases while sharing creativity, laughter, and a little muddy fun! No experience needed, just bring your favoriting budding artist! In this 2 hour workshop, you and your child will be guided thru the basic steps of making a vase from a slab of clay! Once completed, you will learn to use underglazes to add color to your creations. You will leave your vases at the studio for initial glazing, then Sassy will apply a clear glaze to each vase and we'll fire them one more time before they are ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after class. This class is for ages 8 and up. The class fee of $125 covers both child and adult Makers. An additional child can be included for $50. Please contact the studio to register a second child. Please wear comfy clothes you don't mind getting a little messy and feel free to bring something to drink during the workshop. Due to the small workshop size, no refunds will be available for cancellations one week prior to the workshop date. Sassy Smyth is a local potter and has always been a lover of handmade pottery, but it wasn’t until the world began reopening after COVID that she finally signed up for her first class at Create Pottery Studio. She quickly fell in love with both the process and the craft of pottery, diving headfirst into learning on the wheel and through hand building. Before long, nearly all of her free time was spent experimenting, practicing, and deepening her understanding of clay. Teaching classes and workshops brings together two of her favorite things: helping others and making pottery. She loves creating an encouraging, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable trying new things, embracing mistakes, and learning even when things don’t go as planned — because that’s where so much of the magic happens in pottery. She is drawn to learning and sharing knowledge and truly enjoys getting to share her love of making and learning with the Create community.
